We ordered the NY steak, combo fried rice, spicy yellow tail, softshell crab, Shrimp tempura roll with curry sauce, and the dragon roll. I also wanted to order the wasabi encrusted filet mignon, but the server suggested a different stead entree since it had bigger portions and I agreed. We are big sushi lovers, so we primarily order sushi rolls. Sea bass was EXCELLENT! We decided to order family style and share everything. The first thing I tried was the sea bass.even now I have cravings for it! It was soooo good, it melted in your mouth! Tuna tare tare was okay. For appetizers, we ordered the miso soup, tuna tare tare, 2 portions of the sea bass, lobster wontons, and edamame. His recommendations were in line for what I was thinking. I already had some idea on what to order, but I asked the waiter for his recommendations anyway. I could see we probably would not have enjoyed our time as much if we had a table in the middle of the dining room since it seemed so crowded. I didn't think it was too loud.I wasn't expecting a quiet intimate dinner! I was amazed that we had a GREAT was actually a booth in the corner with 2 chairs at the end to make up our party of 5. The ambiance is beautiful.I loved it! The huge buddha figure is amazing and the music was great. So drink in hand, we headed off towards our table in the main dining room on the first floor. I was actually surprised when I saw that the pager already went off before we even received our drinks! The host was polite and decided to wait until our waitress delivered our drinks to us. We ordered 4 martinis to start off the night. We preceded into the lounge area, which was surprisingly big with nice comfortable seating and plenty of small tables filled with wasabi nuts. I already knew that there might be a wait, even with a reservation. I wasn't surprised that we were given a pager. My party of 5 arrived promptly at 7:15pm on a Saturday night. Tao even called the morning of the reservation to confirm it. I made sure that I mentioned that it was for a birthday celebration when making the reservation. I was a bit worried after reading the reviews on tripadvisor, but decided to experience it for myself. I really wanted 8pm slot but it wasn't available. I made reservations through Open Table and received a spot for 7:15pm. Thursday, Friday, Saturday: until 1:00 a.m.After doing some research on where to celebrate my birthday dinner, I finally decided on Tao.
